'Captain America 3' Sneak Peek Goes Behind the 'Civil War'

Exactly one month from today, Captain America: Civil War will hit theaters and kick off both the summer movie season and Phase Three of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. ABC’s Good Morning America helped celebrate the one-month countdown earlier today by releasing a new behind-the-scenes preview, which features footage from the set and interviews with several of the main cast members, including Chris Evans (Captain America), Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man) and many more. We also hear from directors Anthony Russo and Joe Russo, who shed some light on the epic airport fight sequence.

We’ve already seen bits and pieces of footage from this massive battle sequence in the previously released trailers, but this behind-the-scenes video shows footage from the actual set. The directors revealed that, since it’s difficult to shoot at an actual airport, they used massive green screens to add all of the airport elements in with CGI, and that the actors wore cooling systems under their costumes to protect them from the sweltering Atlanta heat. Robert Downey Jr. also teases that characters will make choices that “surprise you,” and that this action-adventure will be quite different from the iconic Civil War comics. We also hear from Chris Evans, Sebastian Stan, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Emily VanCamp, Anthony Mackie, Elizabeth Olsen and Chadwick Boseman.

Marvel‘s Captain America: Civil War finds Steve Rogers leading the newly formed team of Avengers in their continued efforts to safeguard humanity. But after another incident involving the Avengers results in collateral damage, political pressure mounts to install a system of accountability, headed by a governing body to oversee and direct the team. The new status quo fractures the Avengers, resulting in two camps, one led by Steve Rogers and his desire for the Avengers to remain free to defend humanity without government interference, and the other following Tony Stark’s surprising decision to support government oversight and accountability.

Team Iron Man includes Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.), Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), Vision (Paul Bettany), War Machine (Don Cheadle) and the new character T’challa (Chadwick Boseman), who will make his debut in this movie before starring in Black Panther, set for release on February 16, 2018. Team Cap includes Captain America (Chris Evans), The Falcon (Anthony Mackie), Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen), Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner), Ant-Man (Paul Rudd) and The Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan). Marvel‘s Captain America: Civil War also stars Frank Grillo as Crossbones, William Hurt as Thaddeus Ross, Daniel Brühl as the villainous Baron Zemo and Tom Holland as Spider-Man.

Captain America: Civil War will kick off the Marvel Cinematic Universe‘s Phase Three, which will be followed by Doctor Strange (November 4, 2016), Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (May 5, 2017), Spider-Man (July 7, 2017), Thor: Ragnarok (November 3, 2017), Black Panther (February 16, 2018), Avengers: Infinity War Part I(May 4, 2018), Ant-Man and the Wasp (July 6, 2018), Captain Marvel(March 8, 2019), Avengers: Infinity War – Part II (May 3, 2019) and Inhumans (July 12, 2019).
