Detriot Tigers pitcher Justin Verlander spares no expensive when it comes to jewelry. The baseball player reportedly spent up to $1.5 million on an engagement ring for Kate Upton.
According to E! News, Verlander worked closely with designer Anita Ko to make sure the ring was perfect. Ko says, “Justin and I collaborated on creating the most perfect one-of-a-kind ring that is rare and of exceptional quality…just like their love.”

It’s good to marry a baseball player.
US Weekly spoke with Mark Keeney, vice president of marketing for fine jewelry company Ritani. He says the ring appears to be a round 8-carat diamond “set in a six prong setting with even more diamonds throughout.”
Upton debuted the ring at the Met Gala.
Verlander seems pretty proud of his ring designing skills.
I’m going to dominate soon! I’m close. Doubt me if you want… We’ll see. #gotigers

Verlander proposed before the beginning of the baseball season.
“I’m really excited. He asked me right before the season started so we’ve been keeping it on the down low for quite a while. … I’m excited to finally be able to share it with the world,” Upton said. She adds they are just “enjoying the engagement period” and yet to set a wedding date.
